kenya: taita hills
our first stop was the salt lick lodge, in taita hills. this is a semi-arid area to the south west part of kenya (next to the tsavo game park). there was this pretty lodge which we stayed in..
the advantage to the problems in kenya was that we were only 12 in the whole lodge and we had first class service!
we saw quite a few animals though not many of the big five - gazelle, zebra, giraffe, lots of birds and we enjoyed about an hour watching a family of 6 elephants grazing peacefully. a few of the animal pics...
this colorful guy was the man of a huge harem of females who didnt have the same stunning colors...
and the elephants...
