kenya: shaba game reserve
last weekend dad and mum invited us to go along with them to shaba game reserve in the north of kenya. this is an area which is hot, dry and dusty. it is also home to a variety of wildlife unique to hot and dry climates such as greville's zebra, reticulated giraffe, oryx and the gerenuk. it is right next to the more famous samburu game reserve.
heres us in the back of the van...
and any of you who read moms email re: the clean toilets...
finally we arrive at the sarova shaba lodge. its unbelievable after 3 hours driving through completely dry and dusty land and then drive into this oasis of green with ponds and streams and waterfalls...
complete with pool...which some hit in unorthodox means...
pretty sunrise and sunset...
one of the most interesting things were all these cactuses (or is that cacti) which were blossoming black, yes, black flowers. ok i lied, it wasnt the MOST interesting thing, but it was pretty cool.
