kenya: lake naivasha
This last weekend my pal anto and i took a quick trip to Lake Naivasha for some peace and quiet. This is about 100km from Nairobi...down into the Great rift valley. Started off on Friday morning at 7.30am, perfect blue sky and warm sun shining down on us. Brief stop for hot coffee and breakfast at the escarpment. Check out Mt. Longonot, crator which apparently last erupted about 100 years ago.
I had a short walk and met these 3 women digging in their shamba (garden), and had a nice chat with them which ended up with my placing some brochures, and them giving me a HUGE bag of carrots, freshly pulled out of their shamba.
We arrived in Naivasha without event and posted our Fish Eagle camp - where, true to its name, we saw a Fish Eagle (refused to come out of its perch). 1 hippo from afar as well as Colobus and the regular monkeys (cant remember what they are called!) galore.
After 3 peaceful days, with reluctance we tore ourselves away from the swimming pool and satellite tv and serenity of the camp for the drive home on Sunday night.
And to conclude, here are a bunch of miscellaneous pics...
